ઈસુ ભક્તિસ્થાનમાં ઊંચું જોતાં હતા. ત્યાં તેમણે શ્રીમંતોને ભંડારમાં પોતાનાં દાન નાખતા જોયા.

એક દરિદ્રી વિધવાને તેમાં નજીવા મૂલવાળા બે નાના સિક્કા નાખતા જોઈ,

ત્યારે ઈસુએ કહ્યું કે, ‘હું તમને સાચું કહું છું કે, આ ગરીબ વિધવાએ તે સર્વ કરતાં વધારે દાન આપ્યું છે.

‘આ બધું તમે જુઓ છો ખરા, પણ એવા દિવસો આવશે કે જયારે અહીં પાડી નંખાશે નહિ એવો એક પથ્થર બીજા પર રહેવા દેવાશે નહિ.’”

તેઓએ તેમને પૂછ્યું કે, ‘ઉપદેશક, તો એ ક્યારે થશે? જયારે આ વાતો પૂરી થવાની હશે ત્યારે કઈ નિશાની દેખાશે?’”

તેઓ તલવારની ધારથી માર્યા જશે, અને કેટલાકને ગુલામ બનાવીને અન્ય દેશોમાં લઈ જવાશે; અને વિદેશીઓના સમયો પૂરા થશે, ત્યાં લગી યરુશાલેમ તેઓથી ખૂંદી નંખાશે.

ઈસુએ તેઓને દ્રષ્ટાંત કહ્યું કે, અંજીરી તથા સર્વ વૃક્ષોને જુઓ.
